INFORMATION BASED products such as –  newspaper, books, video/movies  retail sales, banking, share trading etc have already transitioned –  from physically-delivered, analogue, material embodiments  to electronically-delivered, digital, information transactions however a second stage of transformation has commenced in which – ENERGY BASED products are under pressure due to –  peak oil, limits to emissions & climate change to transition to renewable, non-polluting, local production -  electricity is o transitioning to distributed renewable generation o electric grids are becoming trading systems via smart meters o replacing fossil fuels with electricity vehicles MATTER BASED products are under pressure due to -  the limits to natural resources such as o fresh water, agricultural land, forests and quality timber o land-fill waste disposal  and having to resort to lower quality resources such as - o plantation timber, lower yield mineral deposits to transition to a sustainable society which –  recycles materials  reduces pollution to conserve natural systems  uses biodegradable materials to reduce land-fill
